What other games besides the Civilization series are turn based and good quality?

I know several people who love the Civilization series of games and want to know other similar games. It is easy enough to find games like Age of Empires that have a similar concept but one of their favorite things about Civ is that it is turn based and not real time. They want to be able to take their time when thinking out their turns.

risk II is fun for a while
not as good as AOE, but there is a new game that everyone goes at the same time… pretty interesting

Space Empires is supposed to be one, also if you Play Rome:Total War correctly it can be psudo turn based game
